Although I use Finale for composition and arranging work,
it sounds as though TablEdit may be more user friendly
for banjo tabs. I will be recording a banjo instructional

I can sight-read from mando tablature easily, but it
takes so long to translate from standard notation. This

I teach bluegrass and I am sure this will be a useful
tool when I tab my lessons out. I use a thing I made up
on Corel Draw but you have to put all the notes and bar
lines etc one at a time, it takes days to do one tab.
Yours seems easier and the beauty is you can play it.

enabled me to:
A) hear the proper playing of songs
B) determine how much I like an arrangement BEFORE I've learned to play
it

I use TablEdit mostly for help in instrumental composition.
As I get more into alternate tunings, TablEdit is very
useful for setting down a melody line in a given tuning
and key, then allowing me to quickly check out the fingering
in other keys and tunings, and experiment with bass lines
and harmonies. A tune I'm working on now started out in
DADGAD tuning fingered in G, went through two or three
other tunings and now looks like it will stay CGDGBD in
C. TablEdit made it much easier to play around and find
a more versatile fingering and tuning. (Richard)
TablEdit is simply the BEST program wich I can use for
learning different styles of playing guitar without a
teacher. It is not a human, but it can be a good Tutor.

Somebody gave me a ukelele yesterday so I spent last
night playing with importing abc into TablEdit. It works
very well, even with the peculiar tuning used on ukes.

The original reason I bought it was to compose things,
but I have done that only once so far. Another use that
I am finding is that it shows you what notes on a musical
staff sound like when played. As I watch the screen when
things play, I'm getting a little better at picturing

I started playing the guitar when I was 16 and played
for a few years. My attempts to play like Chet Atkins
did not go very smoothly, I couldn't read music and other
sources just did not exist. Now, after 23 years of not
playing at all, I am playing again. I have been playing

I use the software mainly to store practice bits, scales
riffs and licks so that I can transport them around without
having to carry loads of paper. I will always be a learner
because I travel constantly and most times am away from
a guitar for months at a time but I enjoy what I do.
These days I work 4 - 5 hours a day with TablEdit. Although
I already know most of the things, I still learn new things
every day. What any magazine dare say, your TablEdit is
just splendid! Your support is far much better than the

I am REALLY enjoying playing guitar music on banjo. Your
software does an amazing job of compressing songs that
used all six strings on a guitar to the banjo which does
not have the low E or low A string of the guitar! (Dan)
I use TablEdit mostly to print music in tablature so I can learn to
play it. I can read "regular" music but only very slowly.
I also use it to play tabs of music that I do not have.
I'm amazed at how many of the tabs on your page are pieces
